DAY THREE: MALTA MOVES AND DOES NOT SLOW DOWN

9/09/2024

The third day of the Malta Festival includes, among other things, continued urban interactions with the residents, two hit performances, and the first meeting of the “Women Talking” series.

For the second and final time during the festival, the dance spectacle “Il Cimento Dell’armonia E Dell’inventione” by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Radouan Mriziga will be shown. At the Polish Theatre, we will have the opportunity to admire the master of acting, Andrzej Seweryn, who, in a monodrama directed by Janusz Opryński, will take on the role of Shakespeare’s “Lear.”

The streets of Poznań will be filled with music thanks to brass bands strolling through the city. In various places, you’ll be able to spot the Colored People, who will gather in the afternoon in the square in front of the Polish Theatre. In the same location, you can also witness the hypnotizing performance “Zwierzostan” by the Artistic Collective Trema.

Today also marks the start of the “Women Talking” series, inaugurated with a meeting with Canadian writer Miriam Toews, whose novel lent its name to this part of the program. Michał Nogaś will lead the conversation with the author, who addresses difficult topics in her books. In the evening, we will immerse ourselves in the works of Wisława Szymborska. At the Polish Dance Theatre, there will first be a discussion about the Nobel laureate’s legacy, followed by readings of selected works from the author of “Cat in an Empty Apartment,” presented by award-winning poets. Starting today, you can also watch selected episodes of the documentary series “Domino Effect” featuring Dominika Kulczyk at Kino Muza, every weekday at 2:00 PM.

For those looking to take care of their physical well-being, there will be a perfect opportunity with a Slavic gymnastics session led by Małgorzata Daniło-Gorlewicz. It’s also worth mentioning that until Friday, each day of the Malta Festival can begin with participation in hatha yoga and afro dance workshops conducted by the Elimu Project.

Detailed information about all events can be found in the Programme tab and the official Malta Festival 2024 app, available for iOS and Android devices.
