"It's almost unbelievable how the latest history of our families and Poland is reflected in an hour-long, minimalist monodrama, in which every word and prop has meaning."
Jacek Cieślak, "Rzeczpospolita"
Andrzej Seweryn returns to the Malta Festival in the outstanding role of Lear and shows the power of theater
“Lear” directed by Janusz Opryński is a monodrama by Andrzej Seweryn telling the story of Shakespeare’s hero from the end. We see him after his death, still hearing the voices of his daughters and the jester. Lear must once again face his Fate. Relive the tragedy of your life. This repeated fulfillment of one’s Fate is a bitter memory, entering into a dialogue with Goneril, Regan, Cordelia, the Fool and with oneself.
“Lear” is an extraordinary performance in which Andrzej Seweryn, an outstanding Polish actor, touches the hearts of the audience with his extraordinary interpretation of this Shakespearean hero. Seweryn introduces us to the world of tragedy, where the power of emotions and drama dominate every shot. He discovers in Lear not only a domineering and arrogant monarch, but also a man touched by pain, longing and loneliness.
